Otros nombres con los que se conoce son mango salvaje (wild mango), <strong><a title=\"mango africano\" href=\"https:\/\/eco-supplements.com\/es\/african-mango\/\">mango africano<\/a><\/strong> (African Mango), mango y <strong>Dika Nuts<\/strong> (semillas del mango africano). Son comestibles tanto sus frutas como las semillas (fuente valiosa de grasas y prote\u00ednas). De semillas de Irvingia gabonensis se extrae un tipo de grasa especial (llamado \u201cmanteca cay-cay\u201d) que se emplea, entre otros, para fabricar el chocolate. Las semillas de Irvingia gabonensis se conocen tambi\u00e9n como nueces Dika y se comen crudos o tostados. A continuaci\u00f3n, de las simientes se extraen un aceite vegetal (en estado s\u00f3lido a temperatura ambiente) y un tipo especial de manteca que constituye un buen punto de partida para la fabricaci\u00f3n de mantequilla y chocolate. Por otra parte, el aceite se emplea para producir jab\u00f3n y otros cosm\u00e9ticos. Los residuos s\u00f3lidos de la extracci\u00f3n del aceite (press cake) tambi\u00e9n se utilizan. Sirven como forraje para el ganado y un espesante de sopas.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, las semillas de African Mango tambi\u00e9n se pueden triturar y, una vez molidos, emplear en la cocina como espesante o aditivo saborizante y aromatizante de sopas y guisos. Otra forma muy popular de aprovecharlas es hornear el llamado \u201cpan dika\u201d, una torta hecha a base de semillas de Irvingia gabonensis.<\/p>\n<h2>Mango africano y p\u00e9rdida de peso<\/h2>\n<p>Seg\u00fan los datos publicados por British Biotechnology Journal la investigaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica he demostrado que el extracto de semillas del mango africano es un magn\u00edfico quemador de grasa.
