Can eating seafood such as fatty fish increase our fertility? In the case of couples who ate seafood more often than eight times a month, the chances of spawning the offspring increased by as much as 61%. In addition, the influence of seafood on the frequency of sexual intercourse has been proven. Studies show that those couples who reach for them make love about 22% more often than those who eat them very little or none at all – as the study conformed conducted by JCEM (The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism).
Statement: Suzanne Antecka, dietitian and psychologist.
Medical science shows a connection between what we eat and our fertility. A properly balanced diet of future parents should be diverse, made up of full-value, slightly processed products. A valuable diet ensures not only well-being, but also improves health, and thus also the functioning of reproductive organs. That is why it is so important to eat a large amount of products containing vitamins and minerals that are necessary for our body, such as vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin C, B vitamins, zinc, iron, folic acid and unsaturated fatty acids (EFAs) . The latter lead to the formation of eicosanoids, acting as local hormones, regulating blood pressure, functioning of the digestive tract and genital organs. The most unsaturated fatty acids are found in vegetable oils and fish, especially marine. These fatty acids are often consumed far too little, much less than recommended by nutritional standards.
Why is it worth to include fish in your menu?
Fish and seafood are a source of vitamins B, iodine, selenium, fluorine, calcium and vitamin D. They contain unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids that lower cholesterol, prevent atherosclerosis and help to maintain normal blood pressure. Fish are not only important nutrients but also high-value protein. In salmon meat there is about 15 g of protein per 100 g of product. It is important to choose fish that come from proven sources, i.e. salmon, which grows slowly in the cold and clean waters of Norway. Norwegian salmon is a guarantee of the highest quality of food because it is subject to strict quality control starting from breeding and ending on the kitchen table. Not without reason, it is also known for its fresh, springy meat and unique taste.
