Cellulite is one of the most common lipodystrophy, which affects about 85% of women over 20 years of age. Differences in the structure of fatty lobules between men and women mean that women’s cellulite occurs much more frequently and with greater severity.
Two types of cellulite are determined
- hard, called the water cellulite
- a soft, called fat cellulite.
Symptoms of cellulite
Symptoms of cellulite divided into subjective (feeling of heaviness and excessive tension of the lower limbs, cramps, paresthesia, tingling, periodic pain with slight intensity, usually spontaneous) and symptoms noticable by doctors (a symptom of “orange peel” and “mattress symptom”, stretch marks, changes in color: discoloration and hyperpigmentation of the skin). In the physical examination additionally may be observed: subcutaneous edema, varicose veins, and trophic changes in the skin.
Etiopathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of cellulite
The article also describes the ethiopathogenesis formation of cellulite, cellulite diagnostic principles (visual assessment, palpation, skin analysis using special parameters and scales like Nurnberger-Muller scale for example, measurement the circumference of the thigh of the patient, thermography, classic ultrasonography, study of high frequency elastography) and treatment (for example cocktails needle mesotherapy, endermologie, carbosyntheraphy, laser therapy, phonophoresis, lymphatic drainage).
The aim of the study was to discuss the pathophysiology of the formation of cellulite, to draw attention to the cause of its formation for primary prevention, as well as discuss the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
