The results of research on "Indications for growth hormone therapy in children and adults" conducted by Maciej Hilczer, Andrzej Lewiński (Przegląd Pediatryczny 2004, VOL 34, NO 3/4, 170-175.).
In this study, classic indications for growth hormone (GH) treatment in developmental period, i.e. pituitary GH deficiency, Turner’s syndrome, chronic renal failure, are presented, as well as other indications, such as Prader-Willi’s syndrome and Noonan’s syndrome, hypochondroplasia, intrauterine growth retardation and hypophosphataemic rickets.
The therapy with GH in adults – namely indications, proper dosage and metabolic monitoring, are described. The usefulness of GH in the management of reproductive processes is also discussed.
